So I'm getting equipment for christmas and I know what kinda decks and mixer I'm getting, but I dunno about headphones. I already have icemat siberias that I use for my computer:

my question is would that be suitable for DJing or should I buy a separate pair of headphones?

thanks!

headphones is all just a preference. a common one that a lot of people recommend (as do i) is the sony mdr-7506. i don't know anything about your headphones, but why don't you just put it aside and try djing with it at first? if you don't like it, then upgrade to something better. or is it that you need to know now in order to get it for free for christmas? :p

some factors you may want to look into is if they block outside noise, have clear highs (not piercing), punchy deep lows, and (quite important imo) if they are comfortable... as they are going to be on your head for quite some time.

There's a headphone thread in the sticky section, here:

A lot of people will recommend the Sony 7506 series, as mentioned above. I can throw in a positive vote for the Stanton DJ Pro 2000 cans, as I've had mine for well over a year with no issues. They can get a little heavy, but I really do enjoy mine. I hope you find a pair you enjoy!

Thanks! Sorry, didn't know there was a thread already.

Not a problem at all. If you've never looked in there, then you'd not know it even existed. But, that's part of what we're here for - sharing knowledge. Again, I hope you find a pair of phones that serve you well. :)
