| I have a geography project for school and I want to see how music (mostly trance) creates peace, love and unity among all people of the earth. Any ideas? |

eehh? damn man, what have you been smoki'n? It's all in the beat, language does'nt matter, according to me anyway... but I should also say that i'm from Sweden, and implementing that in trance... well.. you get the idea Only RMB has done that, sampled some from the movie "Ronja, the robbers daugher", by Swedish childrens writer Astrid Lindgren (the RMB track "Matisse" on "This World is Yours". |

Ever gone to a rave? The people are sooo much friendlier at raves/other electronic music events... to some degree it must be a function of the music. Well, and the extasy.
But still, the music is what holds the rave community together for the most part, I'm sure you could make a case for that in your project. |

The bad part about the statement "music creates peace..." is that music has always existed everywhere, trance or otherwise, and violence has remained pretty constant as well. I'd like to push trance some more, but you will have a hard time explaining yourself. Plus, music isn't geography, sorry mys.

i would say music is more of an expression of emotions. and i think trance/rave music is an expression of the peace, love, unity, and respect feelings, and that's partly why people are so much friendlier and fun at raves. (XTC certainly helps the mood of the rave )

| I don't think you can say "music is peace" because it depends on what type of music your talking about. Armies have frequently used music to inspire their warriors before battle. After watching Apocolypse Now I think of war every time I here Ride of the Valkrie by Wagner. Sorry I can't help but it's going to be a difficult subject to proove. |

In both cases the music creates unity. The music used to motivate soldiers into war makes them as one fighting unit, and helps them remain solidly with their country. (mmmm propaganda)
On the other hand, trance and otehr electronic music (well 'cept maybe gabber and deathcore and stuff ) promotes oneness in the community. If that makes any sense.
Anyone ever read Aldous Huxxley's Brave New World? In it they use soma (a drug that sounds to be somewhere between e, coke and acid) and hypotizing music to keep the population brainwashed and behaving properly. |
