Lounges in the ATL?

Anyone know of any lounges in Atlanta that are chill? I'm thinking NYC type lounges where the lights are dim, the people are unpretentious, and the music is trip-hop, underground hip-hop, house, and/or downtempo. The volume is a comfortable level but not loud. Anything?

Yeah, Beleza pwns! It's really expensive though. Thankfully my good friend Drew van Atten also has a residency there so I don't have to spend much money when I go.

Also, Lava is a really good lounge in midtown. It's on 13th between West Peachtree and Crescent. They play almost nothing but sexy house.

Bazzaar (connected to The Fox) is actually my favorite lounge. The drinks aren't cheap, but the atmosphere is sick, and occasionally there is a night with really great music (like Ryan Elliot who was there on October 19th)

i also enjoyed beleza very much... thought the environment was cool (people seemed a little fond of themselves but overall i'd say its ur typical NY-style midtown yuppie joint). the caiprihnas were awesome (especially the second round of them when alok's eyes started to glisten as the server walked by and he delicately asked "can my next one be REALLY strong?!?"). and the bathroom: by far my favorite in the city... the mirror has a glow around it that when you look at your reflection, you can only see that white glowing ring around your pupils... very neat effect. my favorite place out there is Midcity Cafe, but as far as the music you are looking for (Scott), maybe MJQ, or Azul in Decatur when Decatur Social Club throws their parties. i've never been to The Royale, but i hear they have a good underground hip-hop scene (NY style hip-hop). kai alce use to spin there occasionally as well. Lava is nice, Utopia's basement level is cool too but its just out of the way and people don't know about its potential (and the fact that I don't even know if DJ's still spin there or not). Luckie Food Lounge has an expensive food menu but their DJ booth and music are pretty good the times I've been there (I think Rachel spins there some nights). The Verve Lounge is pretty cool too, especially their rooftop patio, but it may be too cold for that (they have those nice heat posts/warmers though). alright, now back to work.

just fyi Javier, Rachel moved to San Fran, she did spin at Luckie a few times before she left though.

As far as lounges go, have you ever tried Apres Diem on a Tuesday night? There's an established night there focusing on down-tempo, true hip hop and a chill vibe.

Midcity Cafe still is my favorite, it definitely needs a down-tempo night added to the calendar, though I usually start with a few tracks in the chill realm every night I play there.

And Scott, this isn't just to plug me, but have you heard the Warm Art set I did for Proton Radio in September? Another one airs on Dec. 5th, very chill and down-tempo and I think it might be what you're looking for.

When you say expensive, how expensive, exactly? Whats the average price for a beer/mixed drink?

Pretty much everything @ Beleza is like 7 and up. It's kind of a classy place. Word from the front say its delicious though. Google Beleza Atlanta to get their menu.
