They got jumped by the media secretly testing unmanned spy drones. They even threatened the media who were following the drones in choppers.

Where does the money for this kind of surveillence come from? The war on terror? The war on drugs?

Why are there so few regulations on this kind of ? They claim that outside your home, anything goes in regards to privacy... if that's the case, why aren't we, the citizens providing the money for this , also allowed to put up cameras and drones and satellites up? Even google earth has been largely classified.

While I'm alarmed, I also don't see how we can stop the pace of technology. We can't fight it to make it stop, but perhaps The People can find a way to keep on par with them technologically in order to help ensure that freedom and ethics are upheld.

If there wasn't a problem in the first place, they wouldn't be testing them...

Just my thoughts on the matter...

What's the problem again? Requiring spy drones?
Q5echo
somebody has never lived in Houston.

Houston, the fourth largest city in America, is becoming very violent across the board. it's come a long way actually from the 80-90's but it has more than it's fair share of elevated crime levels

how is this different from "manned" helicopter surveys with IR (infra-red) and starlight cameras?

that has been going on for decades, probably before you were born i mean how would you explain the rising cost of buying your weed?

believe it or not this is waaaayy cheaper and efficient for the city on so many levels.

Agree with Shibby. Spying on citizens does not equate to being ethical, regardless of crime rate. But I am assured that someone out there is bound to develop some sort of device that will disrupt infrared spying, at least in a limited sized area. If one thing I've learned from studying war, the other side always develops an antidote for the latest poison.

I wanna see this e on COPS!! :D

I doubt this is going to used to 'spy' on innocent people so lets just put down that red flag.

Like I said, with Q5echo's obvious agreement, they wouldn't be even testing this unless there was a good reason.

How can you say this with such certainty after all the crazy that's happened in the last six years?

Are we really this apathetic?

So are you saying that in the past six years, in Houston, that there should be warrant for such mania?
Tell us, what exactly has been in happening there then?

Personally I think you guys have a paint brush that's WAY too big sometimes...

Trusting government is the worst thing anyone can do. Everything about authority should always be challenged, critiqued and critized. Shibby is right, running away with misplaced trust for leadership is exactly what got us into all the going on today. restraint, I'm sticking with my knee-jerked skepticism and proud to have it.

You do realize you're putting a lot of eggs in one basket with this rationalization right?
Hey if paranoia is what gets you through the day... ;)

/doesn't believe in one, all powerful, underground 'government' agenda...
