Which NYE venue is better, the TAO one or the Giant one?
Also which one do you speculate will be less hassle, parking, food, drink lines. etc. Trying to factor everything in between the two parties. |

giant will be a better venue and vibe, but its pretty ing expensive, and aside from tiesto there isn't really any other dj to warrant the hefty price tag. tao will probably have better music, but a tier vibe with all those drugged up candy kids getting in your way. i'd still go for the better music though - tiesto went downhill when he started throwing all those house and progressive tracks in his sets, because it obviously doesn't work for him. he needs to stick to trance i would've loved to have seen tiesto about 5 years ago..... |

Agreed I first saw him in 03 at 1015, rolling on 3 supermans holy was that awesome. Remember smoking hella menthols in the smoking room or hall or whatever it is, meeting people like everyone is your friend. I really miss that. Sadly the drugs took a toll on me and I suffer massive massive paranoia, sometimes just on coffee not sure but I think my rolling days are over :(
Back on subject, I WOULD agree with you but I saw him at bill graham and nearly myself, such an awesome ing set. Let's face it, WHEN HE WANTS TO Tiesto is flat out on another level. When he wants to. If he gets the urge from the crowd, if the spirit moves you he can get you high on music alone and that's a fact. I'm praying we see this version of the man on new years obv... |

IME, the Giant Vibe is a million times better when comparing the two, but they are totally different, so it depends on what you are looking for. Last year at TAO, we had VIP tickets and the lines for beer or drinks were more an 30 minutes each time and the alcohol was cheap with that being said. And as usual, they ran out of water at 2 a.m. The lines for the restrooms were very long and the restrooms were just yucky. And, there were e-puddles developing all over the dance floor throughout the night with candy kids and their glow stick shows everywhere. It was apparent to me that this all-ages event was a lot about the scene and less about the music IMHO. Parking at the Sports Arena is good but the traffic to get into the lots is horrible. If you decide to got to TAO, I rec. the Radission accross the street from USC as it is about a 5 min. walk and is not too costly but books up rather quickly. After the show, since you would be right accross the street from USC, there are fast food restaurants of all kinds and great places to go eat the mornign after if you have a hangover ;-)
Contrarily, the last Giant event in downtown LA (Armin Van Buuren 07-14-07) that I attended was a 21+ group with short lines to get in, for drinks, and the bathroom lines were good too. They didn't runout of water or alcohol all night and there were enough lines to get everyone back to the dancefloor very quick. As for parking, we stayed at the Sheraton and had no issues as we parked at our hotel. As a bonus, Armin Van Buuren was just hanging out at the bar at the Sheraton a few hours before the show and gave autographs, took pics, etc. The crowd was great, the scene was awesome and it was just an overall 10 times better experience for me in terms of these factors. But, it might just depend on what sort of scene/experience you are looking for on NYE.
HTH! I hope you have an amazing time and enjoy yourself regardlesss of which event you choose!!!! ;) |

I'm right there with you, but *if* we are dancing all night, the cool damp air shouldn't bother us too much all! And, with all the people there packed in next to one another, the surrounding body heat will warm you up. Besides, TAO at the Sports Arena is like a sauna IME, granted you can step outside whenever you want. |

it is because beer and water was $7 or something.
last year, at giant nye, lines for portapoddy was too long, people were pissing on sasha's tent. you can imagine being in the tent and suck all the urine. |

Yeah i know.
As much as i like the TAO line up, i will choose Giant because of the vibe and the older crowd.
When I was at EDC earlier this year, i felt kind of sad watching all the little teenies walking around almost nekked. It was a pretty bad sight when you saw some 25+ year old trying to get close and personal with a teenie bopper.
So aside of the kiddies, i wont have to hop over e-tard puddles, dodge glow stick battles and be in a steam room... |
