it's 1900 in Canada. You could use 2100 i think, it just wouldn't give you as great of coverage.
I remember a friend of mine brought a cell phone from Hong Kong. It went by different GSM band than we do, and his reception was pretty poopy, but he could use it for the most part. lol

but maybe that was a special case, like 1800 MHz vs. 1900 MHz.. a much smaller difference in frequency.

I'm still on that plan. "Fido City" I think, its roughly 60$ for unlimited in/out in Montreal.

ROGERS FOR BUYING FIDO AND REMOVING THIS PLAN!!!

Rogers and Telus were ting bricks when that plan came out! Telus was bleeding to death in Vancouver when it came out, the moment it reached Toronto, Rogers bought them out!

One of the VP's from Telus is already pissed that they might lose and calling it a waste of tax payers money.

I bet the big 3 if they could have it their way. Charge us 10x the amount we already do for a service that would be even worst then what we pay for now.

Bring on some big American and European mobile providers.

Canadian mobile providers are one of the only corporations I wouldn't mind seeing going out of business because of this. I don't care the amount of employees they have. They should have learnt. Don't ing piss off their customers. If any of you work for Telus, Rogers or Bell. Don't blame me. Blame yourself and your ty as employers for being s for so many years.

Just found this...

Q. What about foreign investment?

A. Previously barred from the telco market, foreign companies can bid for partnership with a Canadian firm that meets ownership requirements.

What bull. partnership. Oh yah, like AT&T would want to partner up with Rogers.

I hope Videotron (Quebecor) gets in the game and destroys Rogers with similar plans for 1/2 or at least 1/3rd what Rogers is charging. Per second billing. Unlimited EDGE.

Yur rigtht Jesse...I work for Bell...all the wireless carriers are juss trying take advantage of the short life span wireless has before it becomes dirt cheap....wait in a few years everyone is gonna have 3 cell phones like Japan...once the wireless boom dies...Bell/Telus/Rogers juss gonna layoff all those people.

To be honest Bell doensn't give a because the wireless market is a fraction of BCE's core business....u think Bell cared when the CRTC opened to local phone consumer market...and Roger gobbled it up. There's no money in it....we replaced the lost local phone rev with DSL, Express Vu and wireless..As long as Bell has all the Prov/Fed Gov't and the Banks for all the voice/data services...Bell will always be here. Bell's cash cow is Business/Gov't voice not consumer wireles/voice. It has been for years....it still makes more money than our business data and IP VPN services. Telus aint stupid....why do u think they built a headquarters 2 blocks from where i work...to come after the gov't account. All the Fed Gov't headquarters are here in Ottawa. :)
