Bike sex man placed on probation

I made a huge error posting this story in COR - not coming back to that forum again. Here on PDD people have a more realistic and perspectful approach on issues.

Is this a human rights violation? I suppose that its not different from using a sex toy ... plus, placing the man on a sex offenders list??? LOL

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/...est/7095134.stm

quote:

A man caught trying to have sex with his bicycle has been sentenced to three years on probation.
Robert Stewart, 51, admitted a sexually aggravated breach of the peace by conducting himself in a disorderly manner and simulating sex.

Sheriff Colin Miller also placed Stewart on the Sex Offenders Register for three years.

Mr Stewart was caught in the act with his bicycle by cleaners in his bedroom at the Aberley House Hostel in Ayr.

Gail Davidson, prosecuting, told Ayr Sheriff Court: "They knocked on the door several times and there was no reply.

"They used a master key to unlock the door and they then observed the accused wearing only a white t-shirt, naked from the waist down.

"The accused was holding the bike and moving his hips back and forth as if to simulate sex."

Both cleaners, who were "extremely shocked", told the hostel manager who called police.

Sheriff Colin Miller told Stewart: "In almost four decades in the law I thought I had come across every perversion known to mankind, but this is a new one on me. I have never heard of a 'cycle-sexualist'."

Stewart had denied the offence, claiming it was caused by a misunderstanding after he had too much to drink.

The bachelor had been living in the hostel since October 2006 after moving from his council house in Girvan.

He now lives in Ayr.

Like I posted in the C0R thread:

I find this quite funny, but I don't understand why put someone on the sex offenders register, even for three years, if all he did was a little bit of fun with a bike. A BIKE. I mean it's not that big of a deal even if the cleaners were extremely shocked. And it's not like the bike would've resisted anyway.

Seriously, it's just a bike, no need for any sex offender registers there IMO. I bet it can be a little weird to see someone trying to have sex with a bike once you enter the room.. ok, very weird, but the sex offenders register is not the place where one should be in for doing something like that.

You know, I like my bike - I really like it. The fact that the name of it is a Softride probably doesn't do me any favors either.

Umm, but still.......WTF, man?
pkcRAISTLIN
well, obviously it was a mountin' bike.

yes, its still as gold as when i said it in the COR.

Hahah, yeah, I remember your post - probably the best one anyone have posted on that thread. I am glad that some people like you who post there on COR still have realistic perspectives ;-)

I think that the man should hire a lawyer and sue to get his honour and clean record back. It shouldn't be difficult to achieve, I suppose ... anyone thinks the same?

Just make sure you don't end up with your bike in your bedroom :stongue: but yes, some people are retarded ... I think that as gross as this man was, the bike can easily be passed as a sex toy in this case. Women dont get arrested for their sex toys either. And in the worst case scenario, if its a rape case, the bike didnt resist the man's advancements ;-) plus, no harm was done to anyone, not to any people and I'm sure the bike is in the same operating condition as before the ordeal. The man has to take good care of his bike for better times.

I was actually thinking about posting this story myself! We saw it in our office and after the initial laughter and obvious jokes, everyone suddenly thought wait a minute, what exactly has he done wrong?

He was in a locked room. In that room he should be allowed to do anything he wants to himself, no matter how perverted. What would have happened if the cleaners had walked in on a woman using a vibrator? Woudl she have been placed on the sex offenders list? No

He hasn't even committed a sexual offence yet now he's on a list with paedophiles and rapists. I honestly cannot see how the law has been applied correctly in this instance...

The joke about molesting a tricycle had already been made, but the "pedalphile" was a nice touch

Hah, he stole that one from me ;-) I came up with that one in COR, where I originally posted exactly the same thread. People there didnt clue in on the pun, only after some clarifications
