You know,
I've got to be doing something wrong, but... , I just have to vent.
Even though I've always been the best student in my class, I've been systematically denied every possible scholarship either because I was Brazilian (and there were no more scholarships available for my country) or because of some drama in the department (which, to my surprise, doesn't seem to have anything to do with me, as I later found out).
I then decided to pursue my graduate studies in linguistics, which is in a completely different department. I found myself an advisor, I'm doing some research, and she said I was one of the best students she's ever had, and that I'd certainly get in.
Anyway, I've just received the result from the admission test: I failed. According to my advisor, some new guy had a row with her and seems to have have tampered with my exam... Bloody hell, it can't just be bad luck, I'm doing my best here :(
I feel like trying my luck elsewhere. If all else fails, I'm going to hit the gym and become a porn star :mad: :mad: :p |

As the exam is subjective, he could simply disagree with my statements. My advisor and I tried to find out what was wrong, and even appealed, but to no avail. Maybe the comitee just didn't like my answers at all, who knows. The reason why I'm devastated is because I did my best and I thought I had done a great test. But, apparently, that was not the case :(
My advisor's trying to cheer me up, telling me that such is life. I just want to masturbate furiously and drown my sorrows in a bottle of vodka... |

Because I was already doing research, and we both thought I'd get in, it didn't seem like a good idea.
Besides, my university is one of three best universities in the country...

you can always try applying next semester.. sounds like you need a semester off to chill anyhow. |
