You should probably add some good bars there that aren't good enough to be called clubs. Places like the lionshead pub and it's cheap food on week nights.

Seriously 1/3 pound burgers for a 1$ 2$ with cheese and fries, and 2$ 12 ounce beers. (I think that one is on a Wednesday night.)

Add The Red Lion - A real cozy English pub on lincoln where Al Capone hung out, considered one of the most haunted places in Chicago. ( excellent unknown beer garden up on roof too)

i updated it. i added some more clubs, restaurants, non-edm events, and cleaned up some other stuff. i'll work on putting together a list of bars. suggestions are welcomed.

Jonze234, I can't believe I didn't see this before. Thanks for putting this together. I'm from the Minneapolis and haven't ever been to Chicago (Shocking, I know).

This will be helpful for future events coming up that are worth the drive or for other vacational/personal reasons.

Awesome job. :)

thanks. let me know if it's useful to you and give me some feedback on if it actually helped or things that should be added that maybe i over looked.

I'm not sure how good it is for chicago, but I know that for NYC it is top notch. For New York you can sort it by type of food, what neighborhood youre in, and then check out the menu it has. Great website. I've used it a few times for DC, but never for Chicago since I've only been there once.

i used that site to link to the menus for a couple of the restaurants that didn't have websites. i wasn't sure how up-to-date the menus on that site were so if a restaurant had a website i didn't link to the menu. maybe i'll go back and link all the restaurants to that site too. thanks for reminding me.

Whats there to do around Vision? The Hard Rock Cafe is pretty lame.

Any good food? Also, is there a place to park that won't cost me $30 for a night out by Vision?

I'm likely to go to Chicago soon and I was wondering.

Besides clubs, are there any house music related locations around Chicago like landmarks, music stores, etc?

there is street parking but it's really difficult at night since that's a hotspot. most of the garages around there charge about that, but if you can find a lot they usually charge less. i usually park at the lot just north of sound-bar. i think it's $15 or maybe $20. you could do valet parking, but do that at your own risk.

i'm not sure what you're looking to do. are you looking for places to eat, hang out, get a few drinks before heading over to the club?

Need some place to eat and drink before Vision opens up.....

We stayed a block or two away from Vision and we parked at 9'ish and left at just after 5 A.M, and it was $28. I am not sure if there are more reasonably priced garages or not down there.

I have no clue where the smartbar is either.

We drive 3 hours to Chicago so we make a whole night out of the trip kind of thing, we show up to Vision right on time and the place is dead until 11-12.

Thats not necessarily a bad thing, get a feel for the atmosphere of the club.

But we leave GH plenty early so we can run in to traffic in Chicago and still make it by 10. This can leave us with 2 hours to kill easily around Vision.

no, i don't think there are any landmarks for house music. somehow i don't think the city will be putting up a frankie knuckles statue anytime soon. as for music stores, you can check out gramaphone @ 2843 N. Clark
