Hi everyone, I'm a little quantity hardware based, but today I decided that I'll sell my Juno-G. I'm using it to get the "normal sounds" and for pratice music skills (piano)..
I'm constructing my 100% mobile and compact studio only with a laptop, a controller (maybe Evolution mk461c), a VA (my JP-8000) and a microsynth/vocoder (maybe microkorg).
But the question is: Exist on the market a complete VSTi solution for normal sounds like pianos, acoustic strings, guitars...?
Something that can be a replacement for a XV or Motif ie...
tks guys! |

Tks guys!!!
Now I know that the name is "Virtual Workstation"
Colossus seems to be "the best", but I think that is better for a normal musician because of 34GB!
Hypersonic seems to be a good solution.
Also Superquartet seems to be the more smart solution for pratice music.
Maybe I'll try the Reason 4 presets too
echosystm, some times what seems to be a stupid question is not so stupid :D |

| reFX neXus has some pretty nice pianos, too, that were sampled from some great sound modules. |

More Acoustic sounds: Definately Cakewalk Dimension Pro
I'm just loving this thing, IMO it's the only thing software that can compete with the big romplers. Also, it's not 300 thousand million gigabytes like some of those EastWest libraries, and doesn't take a long time to load every sample, but the sound quality is still up to par.
...oh, and just released for the Dimension: All the sounds of the E-mu Proteus line of romplers!!! (Proteus 2000, X-treme Lead, MoPhatt etc. )
If you want trance in a box, go with Nexus, it's a super deal, especially with the orchestral package (it's my favorite :))
conclusion: If you're going to be scoring for cinema or doing some other high-quality stuff, invest heavily in the EastWest libraries. If you're just looking for some bread and butter type of sounds for dance music, Dimension and/or Nexus is the answer. Plus, Dimension has 10 times as many sounds as, for example, Colossus does, at 1/10th the size in gigabytes... the extra "super-duper hi quality" of these giant libraries is usually lost in the mix anyway. |

cristianokeller, i would go for a sampler over any of the other options, because you have far more expansion possibilities. with nexus etc. you will always be limited to the stock sound bank and the banks made by refx/vengeance. with a good sampler, the world is your oyster.

You just have to read the info about both, and above all to hear the samples to realize Colossus is just way better. Dimension Guitars, Basses, etc, sounds like a Synth, not sampled like Colossus, you just cant compare them.
Colossus is almost twice than Dimension Pro, price, but delivers 100% Top Notch quality sounds, something Dimension does not.
EastWest is just the best of the best for real sounds, along with Vienna Lib.
EastWest Libsare is not big only because they want, bigger sample = higuer quality.
7, 32 Gigas.
I invite you to listen to Colossus audio demos, and to tell me Dimension is as good :haha:.
Kopi =o. |
