Panorama bar, Berlin...

ok, so, I'm in Berlin, and just finished up at the Panorama Bar. It's a pretty big deal here. Ummmm, comfort zone on steroids. Smoking, drinking, glass bottles litter the floor, the smell of pot, the gay district, trannies, booths for chillin...ing, blowing (I walked in on a girl giving a guy a blowjob, with a couple watching), sleeping, hanging... killer music, bouncers that choose who gets in(I was fortunate to be welcomed in...of the two guys in front of me, one was allowed in...he left his friend, burn...I would have, too!!!). The bouncers, so I'm told, keep the ratio of girls high...lucky for me, less work, more choice. BTW, German girls are hot, and horny. People sitting on rafters, toilettes that have doors with locks, two, three, or four people squeeze in them to do whatever. The only thing that the zone has on this place is that you can get drugs anywhere in the zone, it took me over an hour to find two pills, and that's all I was able to find that day, so I made it work. An amazing clubbing experience, but if you hate the zone, steer clear of the Panorama Bar.
Anyone care to add there experience at the Pan? |

| We should've checked it out 3 years ago while we were down there but it never happend. Too busy partying during love week. As for hating the zone and not liking this place it seems that I'd rather go to Panorama then the zone anyday. |

I've been there and it's wild...but I wouldn't liken it to CZ because
a/ it's open throughout the entire night, not strictly after-after-hours
b/ you can have alcohol be your intoxicant of choice at any time of day
c/ the interior is stunning - a really neat industrial looking combo of glass, steel and cement - it used to be an ammunitions factory (the dj gear in panorama bar sits on an old conveyer belt)
d/ the music was exceptional! Berghain has its own label and the top techno djs in the world cycle through there regularly.
There was a lot of open sexual activity and when I went, not even cell phones were allowed in because of their cameras...you checked bags and cameras into a cubby just inside the entrance.
Berghain is serious business...I heard some of the hardest techno in my life there. |

i love the fine job that Berlin does to convert its old buildings into clubs.. Tresor was attached to the old Luftwaffe headquaters in East Berlin..

The new Tresor is awesome too! I went for the opening weekend in May... it's in an old power plant building :D |

| Nice! Esp at the description Sarah gave for it. I'd rather go there then the zone anyday. Zone just seems super sketched in terms of the time's it's opened. Combine that with the craziness of its patrons (and substance abuse) it's just in a different level that I wouldn't go near. Regularly although for some reason I can see myself going to Berghain regularly. (If they had a club like that here I'd go more often.) |

| Honestly, the zone is a dump compared to this place. There's absolutely zero attempt made at the zone for it to be anything more than a place to dance, do drugs and be crazy in almost complete darkness. A lot of work has gone into Berghain/Panorama. The ceilings in Berghain are so high...I think the entire building is 5 or 6 stories. Panorama sits kind of as a loft type part of the entire building (but completely closed off from the acoustics of Berghain). The inside is just too different to really be able to describe accurately. In Berghain, there's an entire wall of glass that must run several stories high to the ceiling of the room that creates a little lounge like spot off to one side of the dancefloor. That kind of thing wouldn't last a month at the zone before someone smashed into it. |
