What do you think about the current stance the government has taken? What made them take such a sharp turn?

I was surprised to actually see this!

Aww... i feel sorry for Israel... what are they going to complain about now?

Heh, I wouldn't worry about that.

interesting that people put completely different levels of trust in american intelligence services when that service releases an analysis they want to agree with.

STOP KILLING LITTLE PONIES, YOU ANTI-AMERICAN POOPYHEADS!

Can't you see that you're killing the dreams of so many warmongering neocons?!?!?!?

How DARE you?

since when did the absence of proof of a wrong become an impediment to war?

The Director of National Intelligence, Mike McConnell had this to say a month ago:

quote:
The director of national intelligence said Tuesday he does not plan to make public any of the key findings of a soon-to-be-completed assessment on Iran's nuclear program.

Mike McConnell said to do so could expose U.S. intelligence capabilities and enable Iran to change its practices.

The National Intelligence Estimate is intended to lay out the entire intelligence community's best estimate on the threat posed by Iran's nuclear program. The Bush administration maintains Iran is seeking to build nuclear weapons, but the Iranians say the program is to meet the country's energy needs.

Interestingly, McConnell also had this to say:

quote:
McConnell also said Tuesday he would resign if he determined administration officials were cherry-picking intelligence to support their positions. Some members of Congress and other critics of the war in Iraq have accused the Bush administration of selectively making public intelligence that supported its case for invading Iraq.

McConnell said the "first mission" of the intelligence community is to "speak truth to power."

"If it were cherry-picked in an inappropriate way, then for me, that's a professional obligation to object, and I would submit my resignation," he said.

I'm sure we'll be seeing this little partisan wingnutter submit his resignation REAL soon.......

Don't worry. He'll be out in '08. Remember how embarrassing it was for the Dems when Daschle, the Minority Leader, lost his re-election bid? At least he didn't lose by double digits like McConnell is going to. The polls in Kentucky look dire indeed.

Different Mike McConnell. The one I was referring to is not in Congress, rather, the Director of National Intelligence (DNI).

(Edit: but yeah, that McConnell you're referring to is looking pretty bad in his home state).

oh good now they can lift those in sanctions from Iran.:)
I wonder Bush even gives a flying about this report at all?he is still probably dreaming of attacking Iran before he leaves the office.
George Smiley
I don't think the report says Iran isn't building nuclear weapons, just that they appear less determined to (if they ever did!)

It still estimates that Iran could develop nuclear weapons as early as 2009, but more likely between 2010-2015, as they continue to enrich uranium

This is very worrying tho (not least because it shows what idiots the US regime has working for it...)

quote:
One source, who has close links to US intelligence, said that members of Vice President Dick Cheney's staff continued to call for military strikes against Iran "on a daily basis".
