Cleaning the lense of a CDJ200

Hey guys,

my friend got 2x CDJ200 used and one of the CDJ has a E-8301 error for any cds. It was working before, so my guess is that the lense just needs to be cleaned. The cds are fine, they work in the other CDJ200 and in both of my CDJ800MK2. It's WAV files, not MP3s.

Can I clean this myself without shipping this to Pioneer ? I've called Moog Audio, a local dj equip resailer and repairs, and they told me they do not clean this but can send it to Pioneer and it costs 90$/h and usually takes an hour or less. He recommended me a cd/dvd cleaner (the one for 10$ at Best Buy/Future Shop) but I have my doubts. I've read on many forums, including the official Pioneer forums that these cleaners could harm the lense.

Any ideas to clean without harming the product ?

Thanks,

Neo

Ive used those lens cleaners on my normal stereo CD player and it did the trick, and i would have thought CDJ ones would be tougher than home ones, as they're being used in clubs. I wouldnt risk it though, unless its insured.
