The North by Midwest EP by Nate Manic and Chad North:

01. Chad North - Get Mean (Original Mix)
02. Nate Manic - Nuba (Original Mix)
03. Nate Manic - Ya Ho Ya Hey (Original Mix)

First release from Chicago's Nate Manic and San Francisco's Chad North - I personally prefer the Manic tracks on this release, "Get Mean" isn't bad, and has kind of a nice vocal sample use, but the excessive use of the "electro/fart" noises turns me off.

On the other hand, Manic's tracks are definitely hands in the air techno - I much prefer "Ya Ho Ya Hey", but they're both a lot of fun. "Nuba" has a guitar sample that really, really drives it into some kind of spacey feeling techno, it's a lot of fun, and would definitely get me amped if dropped right. "Ya Ho Ya Hey" takes on a similar kind of vibe, but I just like the way it works a bit better - the bassline just rolls along really nicely, and again, sounds like something that if mixed in and dropped proper would knock my socks off in a club.

If anything, I think the one thing that might put a lot of people off of this release is its clear influence from two of the last big trend-waves in EDM: the push back to techno and "electro" house; I do, however, think it stands well on its own, so give it a shot.

Samples, for the time being, are only at their MySpace:

I believe it will be out at DD stores in the next week or so.

You know what.. I went to that myspace page and those tracks seemed okay, but then the "DiscoFunkSlut Love Beats RMX" (lol at the name) came up randomly and now THAT is really bloody good. Any info on that one?

Sounded ok, but eh, nothing really interesting...I could see myself getting bored of these quick. Ya Ho Ya Hey is def the stronger of the 3, I might pick that up...
