UAD Cards - A Few Questions
View this Thread in Original format

Howdy folks, ive been looking at various DSP devices and i think ive decided on UAD Cards but i have a few questions.

I have 1 PCI-e and 3 PCI slots available, will these different device slots hinder maximum performance at all??

If i buy some standard cards from Ebay will i be able to purchase ANY plugins from the UAD site to work on a standard card?

Finally, say i had 4 cards, do i need to purchase the same plugin for each card or will one plugin work on all cards??

Thanks in advance if anyone can help me out with this, Ryan

Yes, all plugins work on all card versions, regardless of the type of card (PCI or PCIe).

Be aware that if you purchase a card off of ebay, then you will most likely not get the standard plugins that come with the card unless the previous owner is willing to transfer all of his plugin licenses to you.

In that case, the best option is to buy one card brand new if you want the included plugins, and then you can buy additional cards off of ebay and not worry about the previous owner transferring any licenses to you because you'll already have the license for your previous card.

No. You buy a plugin and it is authorized for all cards in your system. This works even if you add additional cards after you have purchased a plugin. The plugin is just authorized to the new card(s).

P.S. I have a nearly new UAD-1 PCI card that I'm thinking of selling. PM me if you are interested.
