Maybe that's why he couldn't throw over to first base anymore.... he got too strong. |

IMO he was better.
Not surprised to hear Clemens, Pettitte or Tejada. Clemens very strongly denies that he ever used 'em. We'll see what happens.
I am surprised that there weren't as many marque players. I thought this was going to be a day that would change baseball forever. |

good thing you conditioned that phrase with IMO because i think that's a hard argument to make. Sure he had better K/9 and BAA numbers, but he also pitched in the NL west, which is consistently one of the worst offensive divisions.
Now at least we know why he was so good.

It's easy to place the marginal players on the list because people don't care about them. I'm sure some big name players were intentionally left off the list. It doesn't make sense to start putting big names on the list now after it's all done. Remember, this is supposed to be the end of the steroid saga. It's stupid to bring up big names at this point, what good could that serve? |

A-Rod is also much bigger now than he was when he started with seattle. his size is also a function of age. |

If you check the actual report, go straight to the end - I love how they have scanned and photocopied copies of actual checks signed by all of the players listed - why would you write a personal check YOURSELF as a major league athlete to get 'roids? I don't get it. Aren't you supposed to buy these things in small unmarked bills shoved in a paper bag?
It's also funny seeing Paul Loduca's thank you note to the distributor. The best part is that he wrote it on Dodgers stationary :haha: They've also gone and dusted the checks for prints, and you can clearly see prints all over some of these checks. No more "I accidentally took steroids that were in these vitamins" - they've got paper trails of everything... including the fed-ex envelopes in which the drugs were sent.
Ouch. |

^^^nobody said they were smart...
waited all freaking day for the announcement and i gotta admit i expected more/bigger names. what i'm curious about is what they are doing at the league office in regards to damage control. |

That's funny Wai because there were bigger names on the list..The bigger names weren't released for damage control. |

that's not fair i want to see them all...being at a league myself this is a very interesting situation that i hope the other leagues don't have the misfortune of experiencing. |

You are absolutely correct; this whole thing is a sham. It's a poor attempt to clear baseball's name for this whole steroid fiasco.
MLB paid the law firm to write this report. while the law firm probably isn't perpetrating a fraud here, i'm sure they are complicit in the 'damage control.' After all, MLB probably paid DLA Piper millions for this report, so why wouldn't they be? Also, this report was just a way to appease congress and alleviate pressure of threatened federal restrictions.
Also, outing big name players is not in the best interests of baseball. While i will always be a fan, there are casual fans who may be turned off by hearing a laundry list of all stars implicated. Naming marginal players does little harm because you can make the argument that those players needed it to get to the next level; whereas, the big names didn't need it because they are already there. I don't buy that, but it's a marginally acceptable excuse. |

I dont see how they could get away with outing some players, while keeping others' names a secret... seems like there would be too much at risk to pull like that. Speaking of a conspiracy, I love the bull Red Sox conspiracy going around that only Yankees players were outed, and Mitchell is in with the Sox, etc. Every Yankees fan is bitching about it today and will be for the next year.
Also, did the report mention Sammy Sosa? |
