Vaz Modular

vaz modular is very old and thus that it cannot have such an advanced filter and oscillator algorithms as what gladiator has... also vaz sounds very soft and uh its trying to emulate a classic analog synth which are not so good for supersaw... Also I haven't hear any trance supersaw patches for vaz.

Please correct me if i am wrong and post links to vaz modular trance patches demos?

3 good sound demos in the link above
Just because Vaz Modular is not 'new', does not mean it isn't as good as, or better than Gladiator. It is just one example i chose, i could have picked Sylenth1, Albino3, Rob Papen Predator, all which, imho, sound better than Gladiator. Just my opinion though, which i am more than entitled to, as are you:tongue2

not a big fan of albino...though i would agree the quality of the sounds it can produce is unrivaled.

Theres plenty of old software thats still used and completely on some of the new synths out there on the market. Secondly, theres no such thing as a "trance" sound. Every sound can be used in trance... its how that sound is manipulated to create a hypnotic effect...

Don't confuse Trance "trends" with Trance "sounds"...

SHOKK and Flutlich used vaz for their leads. And trance pretty much started to suck after they left.

FInally got around to playing with this. I'm quite impressed by how powerful it sounds and.. well... that it doesn't sound like software. I haven't played around with it a whole lot, but I think when I get it, I'll have a new go-to synth when my virus TI is maxed out.

you really think so? for my taste the quality is far far below NI synths.

I have yet to compare it to Slynth1... but I was more impressed in the 30 minutes I used it than I have been with any (non hardware/ROM-pler) VSTi I've ever used.

Which NI synths are you talking about? Massive was alright... but was hardly capable, I feel. FM8 is great, I'm sure, but I have no idea how to program it. ;) Pro-53 sounds like software. Absynth is a bitch to program and is mostly for atmosphere. I've never tried Reaktor.
Lolo
massive was very good, but it's a cpu hog. Same goes for absynth and it's hard to program too, like he said.

Reaktor is by far my favorite. But it's not only a synth. Imagine a box of meccano or lego technic to create your own synths and fx without any decent manual. Better, imagine having to build an ikea pax system for your bedroom without the instructions manual.

Well you get an idea of reaktor. The 1000 page manual is a piece of crap, but once you get beyond that point... there's no return and you get lost in creative madness!

And regarding Galdiator, well, I wasn't too impressed, but it's surely a question of taste.

yeah it's really more taste than better. but i prefer massive, fm8 and reaktor much more. absynth is killer too but somehow i don't like the current interface for programming it (not so inspiring for me)

gladiator has a very distinct plastic sound to my ears which i don't like. well actually with tweaking i got some very nice presets from it but the factory presets are plain weak (plastic and cheese sounding)
