hey guys. just wanted to know. the vengeance drums on essential club sounds vol.01 and 02 seem to have already been compressed. do any of you find the need to compress them even further, or do they have enough punch as they are? |

i think they are fine as-is. however, the whole reason for compressing an individual sound, is always about getting the specific sound you want and not just "punchyness" in isolation. |

The range of sounds on vengeance is extremely broad. Depending how you combine the sounds, and particularly which synths and other sounds you add to them, you'll end up with something that sounds as distinctive and original as you want it to sound.
Just because a lot of producers use a Virus doesn't mean they all use it the same way.
Regarding the original question - what sound are you after for the specific track you're working on? They can sound fine as is. I'll generally do a little bit of eqing. For kicks, I'll send them into a channel with the bass and do my dynamics treatment on the group. But for yourself, it really depends what you personally want the sounds to sound like. Depending how they lay with the rest of the sounds and the way you're mixing, the samples have all the punch they need with no further individual sample processing. |

ditto.
I like the patterns, but I really do wish they had a folder of clean loops with no compression or distortion. Although I suppose that is a testament to my incompetence of percussion patterns |

Aha. I was thinking the individual samples, not the loops. |
