Hi. I have just purchased the Stanton T-80 & VMX300 Package. Looks like a decent package.
However, i'm having trouble setting it up. I'm a beginner DJ, so things are all so complicated to me at the moment
I'm not sure where all the wires go. Is there any page on the Internet to help me set this package up step by step? Or can one of you guys help me and give me a quick step by step guide?
Ok, so the decks and the mixer are on the table. The amp is on the shelf underneath, and the speakers are other side of the room. The speakers and the amp are connected up correctly.
I have 2 turntable plugs. Easy done. I've plugged them in and the power is on.
I have 2 seprate wires with a red and black on each end. I don't know where to plug these. Do you plug the wires into the deck and then into one of the channels? Is the right deck channel 3 and the left deck channel 2? What's channel 1? is that the mic?
I managed to connect up the right deck. But the record was only playing when the crossfader was to the left.
Sorry, i think i'm confusing you. If any of you have this package or this mixer then could you help me?
Thanks, Chris. |

from the phono output of your left turntable to the phono input on the 2nd channel and from the phono output of your right turntable to the phono phono input on the 3rd channel. you could alternatively use the line outputs and connect those to the line inputs. don't use the s/pdif outputs for anything. now if you've connected the turntables to the phono inputs make sure you select phono on the flip switches on top of the mixer right under where it says channel 2 & channel 3. if you connected the turntables using the line outputs and inputs, select line from the flip swtiches. also i have no idea what the phono/line buttons on the back of the vmx300 are for, but if you get no sound then i suggest trying what happens if you press them.
and you do know how to connect rca cables, right? red on red (right channel) and black/white on black/white (left channel) to get both the left and right channel (stereo sound) from each deck. also this configuration is good when you want to use the crossfader as the vmx300 seems to fade only between the 2nd and the 3rd channel.
when you want to hear both channels play simultaneously you should have the crossfader in the middle and the upfaders for both of those channels up. from there, you can select which channel plays, 2nd or 3rd by using the crossfader or the upfaders.
also check that the eq's are at 0dB and the main out is not set to the min position. also the gains should not be at min for you to get sound. you should set them so that the channel level meters are peaking at 0dB (staying in the green). if you want to listen to some channel thru the phones you should press that channel's pfl button. also i'm not entirely sure what the talk on button does, but it might lower the music so you can talk in the mic, so make sure that it isn't pressed. also the surround button i think is worthless, so make sure it isn't pressed either.
if you don't get it to work with these instructions then there's a good probability that something is ed up. |

Thanks mate. I'll have a look at that.
The wires you say from the phono from the decks to the mixer, are these the rca cables? because i only have 4 wires for the TT. 2x power plugs and 2x red and black end wires. That right?
It's probably so simple to setup, it's just that i'm a newb :/
Also, i remember on my Numark TT125's that there was some sort of ground wire? what you screwed onto the back of the mixer. The Behringer doesn't have one?
Cheers. |

here's a pic of a normal rca wire showing both ends of the wire.
and some decks don't have ground wires, they're internally grounded somehow. i dunno how it works exactly though, but apparently your decks don't have the ground wires, so those aren't needed. |

| My rca cables are red and white. That matter? |

The left deck, i would put the rca cable (red and white) in the channel 2 phono sockets as shown?
Thr right deck, i would put the rca cables in the channel 3 phono sockets as shown?
I have and amp cable too. The speakers are connected up to the amp. So do the amp cables (Ones white ones red) go into the amp sockets on the back of the mixer?
And that should all work correctly? Nothing else required?
Thanks. |

yes, that sounds right. the pic isn't showing though, but it doesn't matter.
edit: and, no it doesn't matter if they are red & white or red & black. |

| Behringer make poor mixers never again am I buying one, I have a VMX 300 aswell. It just feels cheap and the crossfader is not the best however is easy to use and is good for beginners so good luck champ. |
