If you think that is fast...wait till there are Tri-SLI 8800 GTX Ultras and a QX 9770 @ 4.0 ghz OCed with 4 gb of DDR 3 1600 mhz RAM. That system will run (I bet) Crysis at 60 fps with everything on Very High with 16xQ AA and Anistrophic filtering. Actually better yet..just wait till Nvidia releases the 9800's...that will be fast! If you want a new video card...you will have to upgrade your motherboard to one that supports PCI Express 2.0...like a Nvidia 780i..which is like $350. So most of us will have to get the most out of our 8800's.

So when did PCIe 2.0 come out? What is the increase over 1.0? I know PCIe 1.0 was 16x so is 2.0 like 32x or something? I looked at PCIe 2.0 motherboards and they are very expensive.

The physics are amazing, jeez!

You could just wait a year and get even better stuff than that for less and still run Crysis faster :p

PCI Express 2.0 is supposed to do anti-aliasing better, meaning you will be able to do 16x AA without a big drop in frames, even on mid range or single cards. You will also see DDR4 VRAM, which is currently being used by ATI (Nvidia cards still use DDR3). More bandwith, faster memory, improved AA and I think graphic techniques like motion blur should perform better on Crysis. Like with the 8800 GT, you can get quite a good frame-rate (almost the same as the GTX) for less money. Really makes no sense to get a GTX now unless you plan SLI and have a big monitor (24'' or higher).

I doubt our 8800 cards will be obsolete for another few more years..at least till the 9800 comes out and there is not much known on those yet (just the lower end 9600). I think what you might see is less expensive video cards performing better, because of the die shrink (.65 and eventually .45) and higher end cards that are only for the die hards. Like the performance of a GTX is being rivaled by a card half the price, and the 9600 will probably be as powerful as a GeForce 8800 GTX Ultra for half the price. So Low/Mid Range will be the current high ends, the current high ends will be incredible and probably out of reach of many (Tri-SLI?? yeah..expensive stuff).

You will have to keep upgrading every year and waste a bunch of money just to get 10 more FPS in Crysis or other games. I think sometimes consoles are better in that you don't have to upgrade till they release a new system (which is like 5 years). My family usually gets a new computer every four years. This computer is mine, and I'm planning to upgrade some of the components in two years.

Or are you just keeping yourself to this forum because you know it's highly likely few will notice your paragraphs of nothingness?

Either way, lulz.

Edit: Lol...

You hate on someone you don't know anything about other than his posts on TA. Quit using my faults or short-comings as your one-liners or areas of amusement. Why don't you just talk to me civilly and as a human being (an adult). I meant to say no more in the MD, I'm not leaving TA completely, unless you or others continue to give me crap on other areas on this site. Sorry but I have a right to post on this forum as much as you do. I'm not this guy that sits in front of his computer with nothing better to do than make long ass posts on TA (well maybe I am, but TA isn't my life). You like psychology, philosophy, sociology, gaming and EDM...guess what..so do I. I'm going into psychology myself. I actually like your mixes as well, I have a few of them on my computer. If you get to know me just a little...you'll find out I'm not so bad (no this doesn't mean you have to be my friend).
