This one (and the last) is (are) based off the "Dark Knight" series - so the name makes sense. |

the previous one was "Batman Begins"
they decided not to use the working tittle "Batman Begins 2" for the 2008 one |

Exactly. Both are based off the "Dark Knight" batman graphic novels - so I can see why they chose "Dark Knight" as a title.
"Dark Knight Returns" will probably be another title they use at one point. |
