sidechain on the reverb?

hey guys, i know most of you probably know this since it's a well know trick. i was wondering if you could help me out with this.

i'm working on a track that has a simular bass to Benny Benassi - Satisfaction.
i want to make the reverb on the bass simular to his reverb..now the only two ways i could think of making it sound like that are either:

a) to sidechain the wet on the reverb
b) add some a latency to the predlay of the reverb

these are ok but i'm not getting the result that i want. or maybe i'm doing it wrong.

any help would be appreciated!

put the reverb and the sidechain comp on an aux or return track. So when you send the bass to the reverb, the latter gets compressed when there is a signal.

If you don't get good results, it's more or less a question of finetuning.

sorry i'm a little confused..the way i did it was i put my reverb on a send channel and i side chained the volume of that and i also side chained my bass and the bass is routed to the send..is this what what you meant?

I don't know what he meant, and I don't know what you mean without hearing a freakin' sample.

There are A LOT of variables involved to acheive a specific sidechained reverb sound. The setting on the reverb itself, the attack and decay settings on the sidechain compressor, or even the ADSR settings on the bass itself are just the basic ones. Don't give up. :)
