You'll be happy with that card. I suggest you overclock your CPU too to get the most benefit out of it ;)

You can push a 2ghz Core 2 up to 2.6ghz without breaking a sweat. (unless you have a Dell of course...then you're screwed.)

And with that, make sure you have good cooling...i.e. liquid cooling or air cooling fan specifically made for over-clocking. Stock fans or CPU fans will not withhold the heat produced when you OC a processor, and it does decrease the life span of it.

And the GT is perfect if you don't plan to run at high resolutions, which does require a beefier processor, but with it OCed, you probably will be able to get playable frame-rates at 1600 x 1200 resolution, with 4x AA and maybe 8x Anistrophic. I think 4x AA is fine for most games, you really don't see a huge difference between that and 8x. Maybe on 16x you will, but you really need some pretty hefty hardware to get a game to play great with that (unless of course you have a really fast processor and GPU).

If I knew that they were going to release the GT and make it nearly as fast a GTX for half the price, I would have gone with the GT. But I went with the Ultra, which so kind of a mistake in the long run but it should last me two years at least.

eVGA GeForce 8800GT Superclocked 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express for $289.00 I felt that was the best one for the price from what was in stock.

Funny you should say that because I have a Dell! :( I've always wondered if there was a way to overclock it with software. I believe the makers of the handy utility, CPUz, make some tool that allows you to overclock the CPU but I'm not sure.

Anyways, I'll post my 3DMark 2006 scores when I get it in.

Congrats on the new card. Considering your PC specs, I think you went with the right choice. You will def be able to run crysis, not pumped to max, but what will these days.

PS I was gonna vote for the videocard too prior to you purchasing it :)

One more thing...You definitely need to upgrade at least to a 450-500W power supply. Most Dells ship with a 350 watt which is not adequate for an 8800GT. The card will either not work, or it will run at the lowest performance setting because its not getting enough juice. I had to upgrade my Dell power supply to run a 7900GT, and for an 8800 you will definitely need to upgrade.
Zild
FSP Group makes a good 450-500W power supply you can pick up for about $60.

Seriously?? I figured if the PSU didn't supply enough juice, the car just wouldn't run or the system would shutdown but your telling me it will actually run slower and tier? Damn so now I need to go and buy a PSU. There is a 305 Watt in there now. Do I risk anything trying with that setup? Is there somewhere I can look up the power consumption of the card?

Awesome deal but that Rebate was only good until the 15th :(

Ok just ordered a 600w PSU. 60 bucks I wasn't planning on spending. Sucks I get the card tomorrow but won't be able to use it until I get this PSU! Dammit!!

yeah, no way a 300W supply is going to run an 8800. It will only do 2-D stuff (web browsing, etc).

I recommend this one. $25 after rebate and you get 3 day shipping from Newegg, so you will probably get it sooner ;)
