Well, that isn't altogether a bad suggestion.
House is a bit closer to mainstream pop music, and can ease transition. I'd recommend some stuff with vocals, or stuff with good melodies.
One of my friends likes Shivers (just the track; don't know if she's heard the rest of the album), and also liked Universal Religion 2 (well, really more of the intro synth line to Hello Strings).
Try to mix in some classics every now and then; introducing newer stuff along with some roots gives a well rounded picture. |

This cracks me up everytime.
Are you talking about mainstream house? lol |

Yes, mainstream house.
I thought I wrote that in there, but must've been an oversight.
Generally from what I've seen is girls like vocals.
I can't really stand 'diva' house... the vocals just feel too dumb for me. |

The Horrorist - One Night in NYC
Sebastien Leger - Grab My Hips (pitched up to 140bpm)
She'll love you. |

Gotcha. Just because to me, most the house I like doesn't really appeal to mainstream. I guess people can connect to some of it a little better if it sounds like something they think is played over runway models or in "The Devil Wears Prada" :p |

I guess it really depends on the person. Some people are open-minded and you can just give them a banging trance set, while some others may be a bit put-off by that, which is why you have to sorta nudge them in the right direction (by dropping some more commercial stuff and gradually bring them toward whatever it is you want).
Seems like the OP's friend is more of the former. I'd try various styles/sub-genres, and let her pick one that she likes. |
