mp3 players?

hi,
is it possible to record a large number of mp3 onto a cd (say 50+) and then play that cd player on a mp3 supported device?
i use nero burning and when i select to burn a "data" cd and then import mp3 tracks from my library, i can only fit the usual 12 or so tracks onto the disc.
what am i missing here?

If you can only for 12 mp3s onto a CD, then they're either huge (live sets?) or you're burning them in WAV format...somehow.
I'm still trying to figure out what you mean by:
