Is it just me or Trapez has been releasing solid stuff all year around? I discovered it around 5 months ago and I'm still shocked how reliable it is..
thoughts?? |

Trapez has been a flagship label for techno for a very long time. Hard to miss to be honest, part of the old guard of German labels.

It's a label thats seen better days imo.
Not so much into all this clickety bop style they seem to be releasing at present.
when you consider releases like
GA - highway to heaven
oliver hacke - subject carrier
oliver hacke - polar - http://www.discogs.com/release/179029
marcus cabral - temp
Then you listen to things like the recent aquilina and venturi - discobus :nervous: |

it happens, they are in a position to release whatever they want because of the brand that they represent. The blibbitty blop just happens to be what is most marketable towards the Trapez demographic at the moment. While i do agree that the label has been hit and miss as of late (although sub label MBF has been on fire imo) I'm confident they will pick up the slack again. Look at Kompakt, probably its most direct competition. The Speicher series was in total disaray last year, pumping out release after release, look at them now. When you are around that long there will be peaks and valleys as with any other business.
ps i liked that aquilina & venturri (it was last may btw not that recent) release, keep in mind that one mans trash is another mans treasure. There is room for more than one sound in the tech spectrum on such a big label. |

It was released in may 2007 and i'm talking about their releases over the past year.
I used to buy everything that came out on the label, now very few tracks on there interest me. especially the more recent stuff on the trapez limited label. |

I know what you mean. I've been buying records for a very long time, and have had periods as well where certain labels could do no wrong and i snapped up everything they offered. In time my tastes went a different direction than the label, its normal. Sounds change, at least you can see you play what appeals to you and aren't a victim of following brands blindly.
