why is it okay to kill plants and not animals.....carrots have feelings too.

i would like someone to explain to me why the eating of animals by humans is any different to animals eating animals.

i think the original question is flawed, you can't equate the need for sustenance with the "need" for torture.

But you can survive on plants. Nobody needs meat, except in cases when no adequate plant sources are around (a situation that is rare to nonexistent in first world countries).

Survival and health are two different things. I could survive on Laffy Taffy and Sprite for quite some time, too.

No. We kill to eat, we don't torture to eat. I don't care if animals are slaughtered to be eaten. I do , however, care if someone just tortures for lol purposes. When an animal gets killed for food, I would hope it doesn't get tortured , if it does then I don't want to know about it.

i agree with u....i think we as humans should be like any other creature on earth and eat meat, i dont see that being wrong, but lets kill animals in the most humane way possible...torture is wrong whether its on a animal or human...we need to be moral and respectful and not savages...

I dont feel bad for eating animals because its not like if we all chose NOT to eat them, they would all band together and build schools and libraries and contribute mass amounts of new found discoveries to us and our culture. Animals are stupid, and if we didnt eat them they would merely overpopulate anyway, which would present a whole new set of problems. Plus most animals would eat us humans too, if they could actually think and strategize. Think the lions feel bad after eating the clueless woodswalker not bothering anything? Hell if they had a choice they would ask for seconds. Now finish your steak.

Oh and I'm not big on torturing animals. Either kill them and eat em or let em be. Thats quite the contrast in choices, I agree.

They are obviously two totally different things. What I hate though is the latest upbringing that killing animals for food is cruel. People have been doing it since the beginning of man. I know this one girl who won't eat or drink dairy products because she believes 'dairy is rape' and 'meat is murder'. So she forces herself to take vitamin complex for the nutrition she lacks from not eating meat or dairy products. People are really ridiculous.

MMmmm, multivitamin. That's ing hilarious.

I once tortured a squirrel by swearing to him on my still-living mother's grave that I had Hollywood connections and could thus get him a lucrative spot in a Geico commercial. After about a month of jerking his chain, I told him the awful truth - that like the rest of the other squirrels he'd have to gather nuts to feed his family, there was no Hollywood connection. He went home that afternoon and murdered his entire family. :wtf:

True story.

There are issues more pertinent than the welfare of animals: human welfare.

Not everybody in the world is fed, has shelter, a doctor, parents, a healthy body, and animal activists seriously want to "make a difference" in this world? *Sigh*

Let's take care of the human race first before we go racing off to find tortured ameobas and pine needles that need cuddling.

If you're sitting around in your parents basement, eating a family sized pack of lays, listening to Marilyn Manson, wearing the same underwear for 2 weeks, watching re-runs of Star Track, torturing an innocent feeder mouse; chances are your opinion on the matter..doesn't matter.
