| Glow has always been great, but I always feel that they only bring in certain dj's to generate money rather than for the love of music. IE: Tiesto in Concert. Buzz, IMO is all about music. I always have fun at Buzz events. In terms of clubs, I don't' like either Ibiza or Fur. I hate how the DJ booth is so high. It kinda breaks that intimate connection between the dj and the crowd. So in Ibiza and Fur, it always feels like the dj has this weird god status. |

fur will begin their remodeling prob in the spring, now that they have finished bulding tattoo. As for global its getting its own crowd

| I think Fur should change their name. |

| The Global party at Fur has been steadily growing since BT & Grafitti came on Dec 8. The Cosmic Gate and Matt Darey nights were a nice size as well. All they need is more promotions and the people will come. |

| i heard about this fur changing. they should remodel asap. so many wasted space throughout the mainfloor. put the dj booth facing the majority of the floor so where the current big bar is there should be a booth there and get rid of staircase to the side and open up the floor as large as possible. dont even think about with vip sections and crap on the floor. i hate that layout at ibiza. wasted space. what is this miami clubs?? keep the upstairs go all the way around the main floor so what we have is a giant floor with views from top also. keep it large and spacious. put the vips or whatever upstairs. i remember talking to Leama, he was like i hate playing some of there clubs where there's barely any floor to dance (i.e. miami) and he loves to play in europe and asia because ppl and club there are more energetic and the venue is meant to dance all night and he has much better time watching the crowd and working on his sound. that's what i'm talking about. it's that simple. and make a statement that it's about the music not for vip or posers. dc has tons of trance crwod and potentials, they just hate on trance and go to house clubs but then again trance djs never came here other than the top 3s. since trance djs start to come and words get out, they are getting popular. yes it was slow as hell and almost NO advertisement for past 4 months but it's building up, there's a solid market for this and fur doesn't jump on it. like someobody said how is furs mgt commited to this? seemed like they dont care or carried away doing other things, being one of the biggest in the area if i was a manager i'd turn it into a mega club for trance and edm shows. too bad its so slow, when will they realize? anyway, i hope they make changes, hate the layout. i donno who caem up with it, they must have liked to waste space. such a weird layout, doesn't make sense. sound does get ty when it's over loud, but other than that it sounds better than b4. |

The glow/panorama argument as to what kind of DJs they should book will never end. Panorama tried very hard to keep trance and progressive alive but eventually had to start looking at house and electro talent. It was apparent when they would book old trance talent but the nights were basically dead. Not from lack of promotion, but I feel because the only people that could really appreciate that kind of talent are the old schoolers and the people that knew who they were seeing. Add to that the fact that trance isn't as popular as it once was, it was bound to end. Now, people complain that they book too much electro and house and need more trance.
It never ends.
As far as the Ibiza vs Fur debate, this is a tricky comparison because one venue has been around for several years over the other. I don't know anything about Fur's financial but I'm gonna say that when it first opened several years ago, it wanted to cater to a crowd that would get it's investors out of the red and into profit. All new establishments are like that. Since Fur appears to be doing alright, I wasn't surprised that they were willing to take in Buzz. I was however, surprised that Buzz selected Fur as their venue. Goin back to Ibiza, I expect it to be just like how Fur was when it first started and fortunately for Ibiza, they learned from Fur's mistakes and from my personal opinion, it's run much better than Fur.
Someone mentioned Ibiza's Miami style VIP layout. That's just plain ol' maximizing profit. They make more money per square foot selling "sitting" space and bottle "service" compared to craming 3-4 clubbers in that same amount of real estate charging them $20 each. That's just business, the investors just wanna make a return on their investment so unless you're willing to pay them $500 to get rid of that table for more dancing space, those VIP sections will remain there. |

If you like big clubs (I do), then both clubs are fine. Maybe neither is the best in the world, but not many are. As far as the "competition", I am a firm believer in not getting worried about who gets what slice of the pie, just bake more. I think having those 2 nights a block apart can only create more demand. That said I'll be at Fur this Saturday, "competing" against my friend Markus, lol. I'll swing down there for a few while Majai is spinning, too. I would never suggest anyone come see me instead of Markus, but maybe some of you guys will stop into Fur early for a drink or two. :)
Respect-

Noel! I'd love to see you! When are you spinning? I've never been down to DC. I was planning on maybe making it down there for Markus, but I'd love to see you too, Noel. If I'm reading this all right, the clubs are close to eachother? I'd love to try to make it to both. Let me know, because I'm basically clueless right now. I know nothing about the scene down there. I'm usually in NYC. |

Both clubs are 2-3 minute walking distance from each other. You could actually come to Fur and catch the noel set and then if must leave and miss majai's storming trance set you could go venture down the street. |
