I wish digidesign would just hurry up and go out of business... Protools was cool when there were not other DAWs that could compete. Those days are over :)

Agreed on echo!

I did buy the Echo, thing's a beast.

Thanks to all!

Thanks for listening. Most people on these forums ask the question then are just like, I read some reviews for (insert blank) and bought that when everyone told them to get something different.

i wouldn't do this...

if you need to use protools, get an m-audio firewire 410 and use m-powered. m-audio aren't the best, but you get much better value going this way.

why?

i did chk m-powered..but that is addition expense for me. I can get the audiofire and mbox mini 2gther for the price of one mbox 2..in fact even cheaper(s.a.e student discounts)

you cant use the audiofire with protools though?
tekart
yea..thts why am considering to buy a mini or micro too

tekart, it seems you are allowing your software thoughts affect your hardware decision. Now, while that's not inherently bad, it begs the question of why you want to go the protools route?

I'm no fanboy of any particular software workstation, but protools never presented itself as the best solution for EDM for ME. Personal preference as others may have a different opinion.

Point being, there are other solutions software-wise that don't require spending money on a specific audio interface. If you haven't already, I suggest you start downloading demos! Have fun.

don't get me wrong....the only reason why i want pro tools is that i am a audio eng student and most of our assignments are on pro tools..so i want to do my projects @ home. Am a logic user otherwise.
