| It really doesn't matter who votes, though. If Armin was at least a little into the music more than the money he would get rid of this voting garbage and try to educate his listeners a bit more. It's not about opinions either, everyone who has a little bit of EDM education knows that the show is garbage. His listeners are either to clueless or too stubborn. Who gives two s? |

Also, for all the good tracks on that CD, ending with "Burned With Desire" just s all over the whole thing. That tune is absolutely horrible. |

I totally agree with you here. That was an awful ending indeed! It should end with "spiral". Such awful vocal trance tunes existed for ever though. Nevertheless, the majority of the tracks were great IMO. |

Although the Top 20 is a reflection of listener preference, you can only pick from the material you're provided with. When "Trance" and "Armin" are used in association with each other, I think it's quite apparent to everyone by now that we're talking about the Armin variety of Trance, and I don't think Armin or ASOT has any pretense of portraying anything else.
There are, and have been, a few gems that occasionally pop up on the show, and of course, they usually receive little to no airtime. But I'm not terribly upset when the top 20 consists almost entirely of derivative cheese, because it makes perfect sense when looking at it in relation to the ASOT program as a whole (at least as far as the past year or so of the program)

Although I originally appreciated the first disc, it's the second disc that has eventually grown on me. The first five or so tracks reflect some of the best output ever to come from Armin, in everything from track selection, sequencing, and mixing. |

He would probably agree with me that there is definitely a very strong influence that dictates what he plays based on listener feedback. I stopped listening to ASOT about 2-3 months ago because I couldn't take it it anymore but from the 4+ years I have been listening to the show a majority of his 'Tune of the Week' tracks have been fairly decent and his 'Future Favorite' have been often times, cheese (based on the last year). This is evidence that he is being forced to play tracks that he might not necessarily want; to please his listeners. |

In any event, I don't think this 'pandering to the listener' accusation holds nearly as much sway as some people make it out to be. Perhaps people are trying to find some explanation as to why the material Armin has been broadcasting on a weekly basis amounts to little more than garbage, but there is much to indicate that he's enthusiastic about a good chunk of the tracks he receives and style he spins/produces.
If you're going to argue that ASOT just reflects popular opinion, I suppose you could argue that the chain of blame travels all the way to his regular band of producers. They produce the music, Armin plays the music, the people love the music, and the producers maintain that course. This may be quite an oversimplification, but I'm sure these guys are taking note of what strikes the right chords with Armin's fan base, and I don't see why they would be inclined change when they've hit a winning formula. |

ASOT has not changed in the past 6 years, only you have. It is still the same level of tepid, cheesy shyte. If you are convinced that the music was better back then, it's because you were just a noob and you didn't know any better.
