Cases / Coffins for Equipment?

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone could provide any input as to whether these are worth it - and whether it is better to buy individual cases for each part or one large coffin for 2 CDJs and a Mixer.

Also, links to any good placse to buy these (that ship to Canada) would be greatly appreciated? DJDeals and TopDJGear both seem very shady and have terrible reviews on the net.

2 CDJs and a mixer, my personal preference would be a coffin, especially if it's a 10" mixer. 2 turntables and a mixer, individual cases... because two 1200s and a mixer is bulky and heavy in one package, especially if it's a 19" mixer like a DJM600 or similar.

depends on what your intended use is.. IE if I was going to be routinely setting up the CDJs in addition to a turntable&mixer DJ rig, individual cases for the CDJs so they could be positioned as needed.

I've got a RoadRunner coffin case. I'd recommend it without a doubt...It's a little heavy with everything in it, but it's got wheels, a handle to pull the box by...and its airline travel approved..
It can run a lil pricey (MSRP $550 ish) but I got mine for $260 @ Guitar Center, after negotiating with the sales associate for like 30 mins lol

but yeah, I'd totally look in that direction if you want a solid box to protect your investments

Well I have a pair of CDJ 800s and a DJM-500 that I lug around a fair bit... i.e. to house parties.

I'm not sure if I should go with individual cases for each part, or if I should go with a Coffin for all 3? I'm leaning towards a coffin simply because of convenience, but I think that individual cases would probably be more useful overall.

ATA rated... Odyssey flight series is good stuff IMHO. Had my 1200s in them for 6 years :)

I'm going to order a coffin for my CDJ-800s and Vestax VMC-004 from prodjcase.stores.yahoo.net later today. It's going to be a bit pricey (over $450) but well worth it. A friend of mine got a coffin for his turntables and it's solid.

I'll let you know how my experience turns out.

I have a roadrunner coffin that fit the CDJs1000/800s and a 19" mixer... I would personally preffer having the coffin over seperate cases just for the fact that when i travel i get to have them all as "one" peice of luggage (around 30 kg with the equipment inside, that is opposed to having the different peices (most airlines allow only 2 to my experience)..

PS: I just shipped my eqiupment from Canada to the Middle East inside the roadrunner coffin case with ZERO styrofoam, (sp) i just took a risk and depended on the padding thats inside the coffin.. my eqiupment reached 2 days ago in perfect shape.. oh and it was air cargo!

Sounds excellent... I think I'll order a coffin for my decks - 3 weeks is a little while to wait :P
