Advice for selling Vinyl

Hey everyone. Happy New Year.

Just have a question that I am looking for advice on since I'm going to have to deal with it later in the year.

I have a massive amount of Vinyl. Once I finish digitally archiving them, I am going to sell them. I am thinking of either advertising them on here or posting them up on ebay (in singles and in lots).

Do any of you have comments or suggestions on which would be the better method, which method would be most efficient (and profitable -- I know I know, but I worked hard to get them so I do need to have a return on this.)?

What is a fair shipping cost per record and for, say 10 records (the lot size)?

Any more ideas would be welcome. Best companies to ship with, packing suggestions, etc. Don't hesitate to write me if you think of something something. Who knows, maybe I'll have a record you want.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the help.

A fair shipping rate is what it costs you to send in your local post office, plus a small amount added for packaging. Some people really rip the piss on this score, bumping up shipping charges just so they can sell a record low and make the buyer think they're getting a good deal. Many people do this on eBay.

Best thing, check eBay for prices. I'm sure some trance you have may sell for a lot, whereas others you'd be lucky getting £1 for it.

Within the UK for instance sending a record 2nd class post costs around £1.50 and 1st class about £1.80-£2.00, to send to Europe it costs me around £3 or less and to send to the USA it costs me around £4 for 1 vinyl. As for where you're from i'm not sure. Best checking USPS website for pricing etc

I bumped this cause it fits best here, and I'd rather not start a new thread.
At any rate, can anyone provide me with some direction in regards to packaging vinyl for shipping?
Some family members gave me some vinyl, and, as I don't have a record player(or turntable), there's no point in me having it.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Check out the discogs forum. Plenty of discussion on that there.

Your digital files will no longer be legal once you let go of your master copy, which would be your vinyls. Just to let you know. ;)
