buy the kid some books, I am a geek for stuff like that. bought my hs friend some books for her daughter and one of them turned out to be her favorite book.
for the teddy bears, maybe you could go to the build a bear store on 5th avenue and make something there. |

good plan...but the build a bear store makes me :nervous:. i've seen some of those cracked out kids walking the streets with their parents with those boxes. maybe during a slow time like wednesday afternoon in the dead of winter when there won't be so many tourist.

if you get $50 bonds a year every year from one person from age one until 21 that equals more than a $50gift each year. nice way to start saving imo without thought. |

Women often suffer from post-partum depression because of this. If you want to get a valuable gift, I would suggest getting her something special (a certificate for a massage or something else equally nice).
As for the baby... if you want this to be something special to the kid, you want to get him something the baby is going to get attached to. Something like a fuzzy blanket, or a teddy bear. If you want it to be a helpful gift, diapers and clothes, a rocking chair (if they don't have one), a diaper genie is good, a baby bathtub thingy, etc. etc. |

after thinking about this later i remembered i cashed in i think it was 2 savings bonds that were originally $50 and they totaled $300. so makes it even lower. and you (the person it is for) gotta pay taxes on it later. so its still a waste. your better off just starting a good savings account and not telling them. put $50 in there every year and you will amass a quicker small chunk of change than the savings bonds. see the two pictures below for savings rates in a low yield 3% year savings account.

haha i found a website that can do the graphs and calculations for me. i could do it myself but it would take a lot longer. but you see my point.
i wish i didnt leave my blanket i got as a little kid at "home" when i got kicked out. |

yeah im pretty sure it is gone. seeing that i heard a bunch of stuff was thrown out a few months after i never came back for what was left. i had nowhere to put pretty much all of it as it was. i was living in my car for a couple weeks and then after that i was in an apartment that might as well have been a dorm. what i did have didnt get taken out of my car until a year ago. |
