speaking of girly related things...
does anyone here have a girl that is/was pregnant? I'm trying to help out a stressed out friend who's got a question about the pregnancy test they do at the doctor and can't find info anywhere...I tried posting on some pregnancy message board that's really busy but noone has replied...it's late so all the mommy's are probably already in bed! hehe
basically what she's trying to find out is tomorrow when she goes in for a urine test, if it is positive will they be able to tell her how far along she is or will she have to do some other kind of test?
I'm completely clueless on the whole prego topic

but are you supposed to pee on them or something, and if she were, i would recommend abortion...the painless kind |

| i am not sure...but i think the doctor has to give your friend a sonigram to determine how far along she is...i could be wrong but i think thats how they find out... |

| all the info she needs the dr. will be able to answer when she goes in tomorrow. but they will not be able to tell her how far along she is by a urine test. thats just to tell IF u are pregnant. and then they usually guess with the help of the person by trying to figure out when it couldve happened, when the girl first started thinking she was pregnant and then developement of the fetus or somethin. good luck!! |

Hey.
Im a female, and had a pregnancy scare not to long ago. Luckily I wasn't.. but this is what I had to go through.
1. An appointment with my doctor which consisted of questions like "when was your last period, how late are you, what are your symptons, are your breasts tender.. bla bla"
2. Go into the actual physical room where he/she will feel your cervix to see if it is soft..
3. He/She will then give you a piece of paper that you take to the blood clinic. There they will take a test tube of blood, and then you will find out your results the next day.
After my doctor felt my cervix, she was almost positive I was.. and from the information I had told her about how late my period was from my last one.. that was enough information for her to give me a DUE DATE. So.. the answer to your question is they can tell you how far along you are just based on the information you give them when they ask you (before doing any tests). Usually if her period is 3 weeks late just say.. that usually means she could be 4-6 weeks preggo.
It all depends. Im surprised she's getting a urine test and not a blood test?.. :conf:
Anywaze.. wish her luck. She will need a friend.. that's for sure.
