I like the percs at the intro. Nice pads. Overall, I like most of the ideas in the intro. Nice use of space there. Once the groove kicks in, however, the mix is off - the pad is too thick and takes up too much sonic space, and the drums need to come up, IMO. I suggest thinning out the low end of the pad to let the other elements come through better. Nice effects during the breakdown, but it seems like the plucks and pads come in too abrubtly - maybe try fading or filtering them in/out. There seems to be a lot of dissonance at the end of the breakdown and during the outro - the pads and melody are playing different chords/scales. Again, the pad consumes most of the mix during the outro - I'd thin it out.
Overall, it's a good idea, but needs more work, especially with the mixing and the choice of melody and chords in the outro 'hook.' Also seems a little short. Keep at it - this could be a killer piece. HTH. |
