During our overnight shift, there was a lot of severe weather moving through Missouri, Oklahoma, and Kansas.
around 140am, we noticed that a lot of bad was about to go down in Springfield, MO. so we issued a tornado warning that would be valid at 245am.
and when did it hit? 250am:
0250 AM TORNADO 1 W SPRINGFIELD 37.20N 93.30W
01/08/2008 GREENE MO TRAINED SPOTTER
SPOTTER REPORTED TORNADO ON GROUND AT KANSAS EXPRESSWAY
AND BENNET.
0300 AM TORNADO SPRINGFIELD 37.20N 93.29W
01/08/2008 E60.00 MPH GREENE MO AMATEUR RADIO
AT REPUBLIC ROAD AND GOLDEN...DEBRIS IS FALLING FROM
ANOTHER LOCATION.
yeah, 1 hr lead time on that some people can't even get 5 minutes on!!!
was a crazy night!

There was pretty neat footage on the news last night of a Tornado in Wisco that was right near a very busy highway - tons of cars cruising by as the tornado came down, it was unreal.
And the weather guy who was taping it was basically geeking out - like it was Christmas, his birthday, and the day he lost his virginity all rolled into one. |

no really, when you forecast for one of the most difficult things to forecast for, it makes you feel pretty good when you are right. |
