what format would most djs be playing on their cd's..??

my guess would be wav considering its quality, is this correct??

Both .mp3 and .wav files are used pretty regularly. I would however recommend burning audio CDs instead of MP3 CDs, due to the fact that CDJ models from MK2 and before can't play MP3 CDs.
skip
cd audio
sleepydragon
id say that mp3 is more popular burnt as audio though

Please note: CDJ800MK2 does play MP3.

Personally I'd never bother with anything other than audio.

I stand corrected. So these players DO NOT play MP3 CDs:

CDJ 100
CDJ 500 (old)
CDJ 800MK1
CDJ 1000MK1
CDJ 1000MK2

So yeah, I wouldn't want to get caught with no tunes because I assumed that a club system used CDJ800 MK2s, for example.

Most people use mp3s burned to CD as audio.
Limit
so basically everybody is saying they are audio cd's
miamitranceman
Yeah I mean, it's really the only option when playing out unless you specifically know you'll have an mp3 capable cdj. That's it really!

what about in terms of purchasing your tracks. iv been going the 320 kb cbrs over the wavs just cause its half the price and i really cant tell too much of a difference

Shini
Most people i think will buy as mp3 coz its smaller and cheaper and as you said, a lot of people can't tell the difference in a loud ass club system if the mp3s are in 320kbps.
