I'm not questioning the possibility of it. It just gets uncomfortable after a while. I've gone about 6 before and after the last one I really, really didn't want to do it again. |

you're better off going Bill Gates. That way you can add in all about his charity foundation and the work they do for 3rd world health. Someone who actually uses their position for good in the world. |

That depends. How does it work?
For instance, am I a copy of the person, or the genuine article? Does the experience take place in some sort of quasi-real vacuum, or do actions I take while I am that person have a lasting effect on the world? Suppose I die while I am said person -- do I return to my own identity, or am I dead? Are they then dead?
For that matter, if you were to step into the shoes of someone who is already dead, wouldn't you then just be experiencing death (or, in other words, experiencing nothing?) Or are we talking time-travel as well? Also, do fictional characters really qualify? If so, I'd choose to be God for a day, and then, being someone who by definition can do anything, I'd grant my real, actual self the same capacity. I have to imagine that being omnipotent would come in handy occasionally.
These are pressing issues and the question can't be properly answered without a thorough understanding of precisely what "stepping into someone's shoes" or "being someone else" -- a seemingly paradoxical idea to begin with -- entails. I suggest you contact the school and ask for clarification. If they're going to ask a bizarre question based on an impossible hypothetical, they at least ought to clarify exactly what they mean. Alternately, your essay could try to explain the various contingencies, but given the length limit that may not be feasible. |

| Definitely don't pick someone like Bill Gates or Mark Cuban if you're applying to business school. Sure they may be successful businessmen, but they're tech guys. Why do you think the dot com bubble burst and went to ? It is because business guys tried to copy Gates, etc... and found startup tech companies. Which they knew jack about. Unless you have a technical degree already pick some sort of business scum bag to emulate not a scientist. |

I was more suggesting that it'd be preferable to Donald Trump. Its still not a particularly original idea, but it'd be better than ol' monkey hair.
The other part of the reason to suggest Gates was due to his comittment to helping 3rd world health through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Actually using their money and position for good reasons, not just to make more money ala Trump.
Its still a sucky idea though and I knew it when I said it, I'd imagine the assessers would get about 93,000 applications each year saying one of those two. |
