Cassette to CD help in Sound Forge

Hey guys... As I work for an IT company I am currently in the Process of converting an old Cassette tape to CD for one of my clients using Sony Sound Forge 8. It is a recording of a funeral service and there is a little bit of low end rumble that I want to remove.
I haven't had time to bring any of my VST's to work so I am using Sound Forges inbuilt EQ to do the trick. Now my problem is, everytime I cut any low end frequencies, whether it's 20hz, 40hz 80hz or whatever the waveform starts getting a load of flatlines and peaks (distorts) like crazy.
Now all I am doing is cutting frequencies so there should be no reason for the track volume to do this. Am I right or am I doing something wrong??
Ohh... and I recorded the entire cassette with no clipping. Peaked at -0.2db to be exact.

If the highpass filter has any resonance on it, it will boost those frequencies right above the cut. That could be the cause of your clipping.
What software tools do you currently have at your disposal? |

Basically under the EQ tab there is a graphic,paragraphic and parametric EQ. Doesn't SEEM to be any resonance anywhere. I will have a play around with it today, if I can't get it going I might have to bring in some trusty tools from home. |
