If I recall correctly, the man whose car line is named after him (Porsche) started Volkswagon right before Germany got all hostile...the second time. The autobahn (one of Hitler's projects) had just been built (although it was nowhere near the size it is today), and Hitler wanted a car cheap enough for the average German family to buy. The whole point of it all was to get out and enjoy the countryside.
Only a thousand or so units were built before the war started, and of course with the war came rationing and such - something that would probably catalyze the populace to be more pacifist nowadays, but that's a different topic.
Anyways, the point is Porche spawned Volkswagon, and hopefully you recognize Volkswagon as a German company. |

As well as the Tiger I and Tiger II tanks :D He got around quite a bit. |
