I Killed A Rat Last Night

So, I was heading home from the studio last night, South on Vaughn Road towards St. Clair, and killed a rat.
You see, there were garbage cans laying around outside Dutch Dreams and I had to weave through them. Right as I'm walking between the cans, which had been blown by the wind into disarray, I stepped on what I thought was a branch or something - which was wierd because the sidewalk was clear when I had glanced at it moment earlier while planning my move. I turn around to see what I stepped on, and there's a grey rat, probably 10" head to tail, laying on it's side twitching and doing the funky chicken, clearly in it's death throes.
I felt kind of bad (and grossed out) so I checked my shoe to make sure I didn't have rat-spaghetti on the sole, and stood there in the cool, dark, breezy silence watching him die. I don't know why, but I felt really strange about it later on, aside from being random as hell. I used to teach wilderness survival and I've killed, skinned and eaten all manner of wild animals, but I felt really terrible the rest of the way home.
Some raccoon ate well last night. End of sharing session. |

I'm of English descent. I was trying to stop the plague from spreading.
Funnily enough, I as soon as I got home I threw my jeans in the wash because I got all paranoid about fleas jumping onto me during the incident. |

I don't live there, but I take to 90A a few times a week to go to/from the lab. You should have said hi, I'm not so scary. :) |
