If you go by the sea, then is ok, but travel on Croatia's highways in a bus and you might just die of boredom. Completely flat and nothing around you but some hills in the distance obscured by fog. Might be great for a speed run though if you have a fast car...i don't so i have to relieve the boredom with some music at extremely high volume or some goods podcast. I always travel with a car, never again do i intend to suffer trough a bus ride.
Also bus drivers are dicks. |

About 4 hours from Galway to Cork, although depending on Limerick traffic that could go up to 5 1/2 hours. Great for the bladder when there isnt a stop on the way!
Used to do 1st half of mp3 player, then 2 hours of laptop. Battery lasted for about that, made the trip tolerable. |

| The only time i used a bus was to go from Cleveland to Columbus to catch a flight to North Carolina. I missed that flight. Haha. |

| I'm guessing the major problem with staying entertained during these long trips is the fact that battery life always bites the dust with the exception of only a few devices. The average MP3 player lasts about 12 to 16 hours of continuous use. The average game device lasts about half that. Laptops, far less. Phones: only a bit longer than laptops. |

Went up to Toronto in a bus a few years ago. It was really bad. Some people used the toilet thing and it smelt really bad for about half the trip.

Yeah A1 is a boring highway, not much to see except the ocasional shrub. But then again it was built as an easy way to get from Zagreb down to Dalmatia. I like taking the winding roads near Velebit. Some nice scenery up there. |

Worst bus ride of my life, Bogota to Medellin in colombia. Omg ing 12 hours of going up a mountian on a road that can barely fit to vw bugs wide. I thought we were gonna go off a cliff 100 times. And the whole time I was sitting behind some baby that was puking its little guts out, the bathroom looked like hell. And even if you did manage to build enough courage to use it you would piss all over yourself because of the winding roads.
:( Just thinking about it pisses me off lol |

Yup, I do sometimes. Music( must must must have), books( if you can read in a moving vehicle ), paper and something to write with is good too. |
+1. I've gone to (and from) São Paulo several times by bus, and it's a very tiring 12 hour long trip. No matter how hard I try, however, I just can't sleep on a bus. Last time I was so tired, I told the guy sitting next to me that his nose looked like a beige strawberry. And I once decided to strike up a conversation with a 14 year old girl.
She just wouldn't stop talking :p |

| I used to travel in buses all the time when I was in marching band. As long as I had a good friend to talk to I wouldn't mind the trip at all. |

Small country + winding mountain roads = bus rides 3x longer than you would expect. Took something like 9 hours to get from Dubrovnik up to Zadar even though its only 300km or so. Whenever I got bored though I just looked out the window - the dalmatian coast is easily one of the most visually stunning road trips I've ever been on. |
That depends on the region. :) Slavonija is flat, Gorski Kotar, Lika and Dalmatia aren't. :p
But like I said, it took me 11.5 hours to get from Slavonija to Zadar and it's only 500-600 km distance.
It gets messy later on, first half of the trip is quite easy... All you have to look at are grain fields. :) |

lol it reminds me of a school trip we did. France & Back in 24 hours. We left at midnight and everyone was falling asleep on the coach but i couldn't sleep. I think only me, a teacher and my mate stayed awake throughout the whole journey. We got down to Dover in 7 hours, onto a ferry which was fun at 7am and everyone was then puking, i wasn't sick, infact i just kept buying nice things from duty free to snack on. Then we walked around 2 french towns all day, breakfast was immense as we went to a local bakery/patisserie and bought hot croissants, scones, bread etc. and we took an evening ferry back, getting home at midnight the following night. overall, we spent maybe 18 out of 24 hours on the coach & it was just annoying |
