True, I guess it's a little different with the talk shows, but when I was watching the Daily Show, I noticed that the jokes were very similar to how they were when they did have writers. |
Really? His audience doesn't seem to agree - the amount of awkward silences after jokes has been a bit odd for me to see. |

They're definitely not as on-point as they were, and of course are lacking the sketches and "correspondants", but the general satire and the way they poke fun at things seems to still be there. |

Yeah - I thought they were as funny as ever, but it was weird to not hear such raucous laughter from the audience as there usually is.
Stewart also seems to be making jokes since he got back that are, at times, over his audience head. They're funny if you know what he's talking about, but it's clear he loses about half the audience each time he tries one out. |

That's why I've tried to steer clear of watching The Daily Show or The Colbert Report. Both of those shows seem to rely a lot more on writers than late-night talk shows do. I've been surprised at how much I've actually enjoyed Conan over the last week because he's always been someone who is good at being randomly hilarious, and that's great for when you lack writers. Colbert and Stewart on the other hand, not so much.

conan has gone totally ape without the writers and so far it's amusing but the wackiness is going to get old real fast if the strike continues.
leno has been his usual unfunny self with substandard bookings reflecting the strike most conspicuously. colbert and stewart are struggling.
letterman rocks as always. |
