Which is best??
Or deemed to be most transparent?? |

| The IR-1 is possibly the most bad ass piece of code I've ever dropped on a DAW signal path. Pricey though for 1 plug-in... |

| Don't want to sound like an ass - but why don't you find out by yourself? Download the demos, and try it before buying it. Than you can decide where to spend your money on, and which sounds best to you my friend.. It's really that simple. Plus some people prefer certain reverb sound, and what I like may not be what You like. Now you wanna hear my opinion? I like altiverb cause it has a very close sound to hardware boxes. But than again. Waves Ir just like Altiverb let's you load up impulses, and you can download more than enough to keep you busy for years to come for free.. I really like the 24 bit lexicon hardware impulses. Just download them all and decide for yourself. Have fun comparing ;) |

| This is a tough question to answer because the sound (and transparency) depend largely on the quality of the impulse responses that you're using. I've never used Altiverb, but I have the Waves IR-1, Perfect Space (included with Sonar PE), and SIR (freebie) convolution reverbs. The few times that I've compared these plugins using the same impulse response, I couldn't hear much, if any, difference in sound quality. The advantage of the Waves IR-1 is that its tweakability is much better than the others. If you plan on using it only with the included IR's (but, where's the fun in that?), I'd say Perfect Space comes with some of the best sounding IR's of the three convolution reverbs I have. That's probably not much help, but there you go. :happy2: |

You don't need to spend more than this on a convolution reverb. What matters is the quality of the convolutions, as most plugins all have the same/similar controls. |

Good point echosystm - now that you mention it, I'm pretty sure that Perfect Space is just a repackaged version of Pristine Space - Cakewalk has done this with other Voxengo plugins as well. |

nebula 3 (dynamic convolution) sounds much better than those static convo reverbs. though it's very heavy on the current cpus.
i prefer sonnox reverb over the convolution ones (less cpu and much more flexible) |

same here. i much prefer wavearts masterverb over convolution for the same reasons. the results are good enough, i doubt anyone can tell the difference. |
