I wouldn't ever drive a car that small no matter who makes it. I wanna live if I am ever in an accident. (cuz you couldn't possibly live if you drove a car like that and the accident was bad) |
depends how strong the body of hte car is.
ppl said the same (and still do) about the smart cars.
they are safe as hell. the body is a ing metal box cage that is extremely had to penetrate, much more so than most vehicles.
so from a not being "crushed" perspective yuo're very well off.
the other side of the coin to think about is the damage you could do yourself from a sudden stop and smashing into the front of your vehicle. the less material there is in a car in a crash, the more you are going to be slammed around. bc there isnt as much (ie. like nice long front car hood) to absorb the energy.
but i know smarts are made somehow so that such energy is displaced somehow around the car, whcih helps. |

i doubt its as safe as a smart car(and as Jem point out) yes smart cars ARE safe.
and I bet that thing would rock in the snow. with those super skinny tires. it would cut right through the snow. (yes skinnier tires are better in winter) |

This car is not meant to be driven on North American roads, at NA speeds. It is made for sitting in Indian traffic, which zooms along at a brisk 40km/s.
Traffic jams in India, as with the rest of the world, are getting worse, and with a growing middle class, more of the population can now think about sitting in traffic in a car. With the release of such a cheap car, we will see a mass movement of people ditching their scooters, and moving towards something that has a roof, and the possibility of a radio.
Tata has done a fantastic job of growing in the 90's, to now releasing headline making cars. I think they are doing great work, but it sucks that the world's thirst for cars keeps rising. |

| Yeah , I can imagine the increase in the demand for oil if a billion Indian people could suddenly afford cars. |

As much as I can appreciate strength construction, roll cages, and composite materials, there are still physics that indicate otherwise. No matter how strongly the Smart or other mini cars (Yaris, whatever) are built, you can only imagine what would happen to one were it in an accident with say...a Chevy Tahoe, Ford F-150, Hummer, etc. |

It is cheap alright and good for smaller cities in India but I am really really hoping we dont get to see many of these in the top Indian cities like Delhi, Bombay, Bangalore and the rest of them...
I was in Delhi this Christmas and OMG the traffic situation is soo bad. Thankfully, many people buy motorbikes which makes it a little better but if we people start buying this car cos it cost pretty much what the bikes cost, then there would be an overload of vehicles in these cities...It is getting retarded cos the Government has consttructed over 50 new flyovers and highways and they are still unable to effectively control the traffic. Just way too many people have money to buy cars now...
But yea, this is definitely going to do well in smaller cities in India. Great for farmers and stuff who have to bike through really long distances especially in villages n stuff...Way to go Tata !! |
