As far as I know, 'An MP3 player' is correct as abbreviations are treated as words that begin with a vowel.

Your saying abbreviations = word that begins with a vowel

if no one says anything ahout this being wrong then thats fine with me.

Why do Americans spell it 'color' when the second 'o' has a different pronunciation than the first 'o' ?

I thought so.....

I bought a refurbished 8gig ipod. As nice as many of the other mp3 players are, the ipod has the most practical design, except for the recent touch/scroll screens. The click wheel of the ipod really helped them dominate the market for a while. If I had to buy again, the iAudio player looks nice. Also, the Samsung P2, but that's abit pricey. I spent less than $150 on mine, and it does what I need it to do. Good enough for me.

MP3s pretty much crank about the same. Need to look at the earbuds which is the connection from the little contraptions into your ears and your brain. I switched to V-moda Bass inner ear buds in last couple months and was pleased over my existing Sonys. Sound and bass quality a little better (nowhere near bump from physical speakers), but the comfort during exercise made them worth the while and the $30 with shipping included I got them for off of the Internet at a steal.

I know you can go to extremes with couple hundred dollar sound isolating systems, but I don't need that much isolation heading down to the park to exercise either.

Bottom line here is to look at a midprice MP3 player, but look at your earbuds to hear the music properly. Most come with earbuds you can buy for $5 and should be thrown away. Same thing with an 800W stereo pushing 5 inch vice 15 inch floor speakers. Which do you think will bump your world? Also, think about a car with little 6 inch factory installed speakers vice a 1500W system bumping down the road with 12" woofs. You ain't bumping with 6". Normally things are driven by a combination of power and speakers. OK, one of my old sayings regarding car stereos...raw power = power.

I have now a Creative 30GB Zen Vision:M. I know, I know, 30GB is overkill, seriously. It overall is quite good, I like it, the only thing that gets a bit annoying is that it lags a bit when browsing tracks when the disk is a bit full.

However I've had trouble with Creative, my previous 5GB unit died, thankfully it was still within warranty time - that's why I got the 30GB, they didn't sell any more Creative players of the same range around 5GB and I wasn't going to downgrade to 2GB neither. 5 was right about the perfect size IMO...

Volume my man, and quality of sound. You're looking a how may songs you can load on an MP3. Certainly you can load a pile more 64KPS than 320s. It's what comes out of the little devices that matter in the long run...

If you're not absolutely fixated on an iPod, iAudios are pretty sweet, and iRiver's been known to produce better sound than the pods. Don't forget to get some nicer earphones. Shure, Etymotics or Ultimate-ears are FTW. :)

Volume is actually a weird thing with the Creative MP3 players. I have too a small 512MB iPod that i use for the gym, and it can play much louder than any of the Creatives! If an mp3 isn't normalized at full volume, and you're using it to listen to music in a place with background noise, you'll want it louder than it is able to do.

It's not much of a problem to me because I avoid listening to horribly loud music, and use it almost only for my car where I can just turn up my car stereo without big restrictions. But just a warning for anyone trying to buy Creative.

That's the other reason I love my Shures. The noise isolation effectively boosts the volume ceiling by about 40%, since I don't need it to be loud enough to battle ambient noise. Plus, it's nice to know that when I'm blasting the equivalent of 90dB or so, the person next to me on the bus can't hear a thing. :p
