Ha ha, yea that stuff was amazing! I also love Resistance D from pre-95 stuff. At times i confuse pre-95 hard trance with normal classic trance though. Sometimes they were hard to distinquish i guess(since some classic trance was inherently harder and faster e.g. hardfloor, spicelab etc.-the "harthouse" stuff ).

Yeah, I would too consider that harder and faster Harthouse stuff hard trance. A lot of people believe The First Rebirth was the first proper hard trance tune, but the stuff Arpeggiators were doing back in early 1992 was definitely different from classic trance sound Eye Q or MFS were pushing back then. Or Resistance D - Cosmic Love, Echoplexing - pure classic trance; Resistance D - Human, Dark-Side, Airwalker - hard trance IMO

I agree, hard trance existed before First Rebirth. And those are some nice examples. And besides, wasn't First Rebirth released at first for the hard core scene (even though it was Bonzai)? It became a huge hit amongst the hard core crowd as well.

Indeed. People often forget that Bonzai was more of a hardcore-ish label back then in general (Bonzai Channel One, DJ Bountyhunter, Stockhousen). It's just tough to draw the line between hard trance and hardcore of that era, as both genres often were equally fast and both got rotation from gabber/hardcore DJs.
