So, as of about 4 hours ago, i'm no longer a smoker
haven't completely quit yet as its only been four hours without one, and i know the next couple days are gonna suck BALLS so i figured i'd see if anyone else out there's taking the new year to finally quit this disgusting habit :)

Good call.

Tried the laser thing last year & it didnt work. This year im gonna try that new pill they have out now. It worked for my cousin & he was more dependent on cigs than me.

yah i'm quitting, not cold turkey, but i've had less than 10 since jan 1, not bad.

first few days seemd hard, but only because i work with smokers...and i am friends with them.

right now i'm losing the 'excitment' of quitting, but my gf keeps me in line...she's quitting too.

yeah i'm goin cold turkey as well, but for anyone who's struggled with it i've been following a similar thread over on somethingawful, and chantix seems to be somewhat of a miracle drug. it gives you ridiculously vivid scary and trippy dreams, but everyone who's posted and tried it said it works wonders. basically stops you from getting anything from the cigarettes, so you only feel the negatives, and makes it ridiculously easy to quit. kinda wanna try but at the same time it costs money and if all goes well i should be able to do it on my own

tomorrow will be the first full day
we'll see how it goes

I also find that not telling everybody that i'm quitting is making it easier on me. There's a lot less pressure when you're quitting without making any announcements about it (like this one, but in person).

So far the only people that know i'm quitting are my gf (she made me) and my friends at work. family and most of my friends don't need to know until i'm 100% sure i've accomplished it.

Still smoking, myself.

Good for you for quitting, it's an awesome move, and I wish you well on your decision. Getting out of it young is a VERY VERY VERY good move. I'm envious.

Try not to be a wanker about it though, by shoving the "disgusting habit" thing in people's faces. Everyone makes their own decisions, and only yesterday you weren't far removed...

GOOD MAN, MAKE IT WORK! :)

I am! Im going to stock up on gum. It's going to be hard cause all my freinds smoke. They always ask me to go smoke it's going to suck.
