| I did a gig in Boston over the summer and borrowed it from him and I know he'd had it from before, so I would say he's had it for a year or so. |

Nice, there's a Microtrack 24/96 and a Microtrack 2. He probably had a Microtrack 24/96 which is the older model, or maybe he was able to actually get the Microtrack 2 in advance through sponsorship or a trial or something.
Either way, I think both are basically the same aside from maybe a new feature or two.

Nice, keep in mind you will still need to buy a flash disk for it for storage.
I bought an 8 gig drive for $165 (tax included) at one of those shops at 42nd street. They were selling it for $250 but I was able to talk them down.

Really, so it doesnt have an internal HD?
Do you know the ratio of recording time vs storage space?
ie. 1 gig will give you ____ hours of recording time at _____ bit rate |

Yeah you have to buy a compact flash drive (or something like that), you can get them at any electronics store. However, on 42nd street, or on the internet, you can get them for a lot cheaper.
Depends on whether you are recording wav or mp3, and what size of mp3 as to how much storage space you get.
Man, I just said screw it and bought the 8 gig. This way I should be able to get at least 5 hours recording with Wav.
It's annoying that there is the extra cost but oh well :(
