18/01 - Tiesto Goes Blu-Ray

Tiesto's concert in Copenhagen will receive Blu-ray treatment when it gets released for home video in early March, day-and-date with the DVD release. The release, titled 'Tiesto: Elements of Life' will feature "full DTS" (which most likely means standard DTS at 1.5Mbps) and "surprising extras". No other details were mentioned, but more information is promised soon.

The format war should now be over :)

On a serious note though, HD-DVD should admit defeat with 80+ % of all HD-media sales being Blu-Ray in Europe (for quite some time now already), the recent announcement by Warner that they would go exclusively Blu, Universal and Paramount now being able to follow, and the latest figures showing that Blu-Ray films account for 85% of all US HD-film sales these past 2 weeeks according to the Home Media Magazine.

I'd be interested in seeing how DTS audio makes a blind bit of difference when all his source material is only in stereo and not surround.

Erm, maybe they will record the live sound in 5.1 and not just direct from the mixer?

hd-dvd will only survive with software and computers

The music will most probably be an 5.1 upmix and the crowd noise was supposedly recorded with 4 or 5 (or maybe even more) different mics

I just don't see HD-DVD going away until Blu-Ray players become cheaper. I do want to see this though. Say what you will about Tiesto but his live sets are awesome.
